Non-Duty LDF Plan Increasing Dues

A message from Vice President, Jason Duran:

Dear Members,

Effective immediately, the Colorado State FOP Lodge has raised the price of the Non-Duty Legal Defense Plan.  The plan has gone up $5.00 per month.  The dues for this plan are now $180.00 for the whole year or $15.00 per month.  A reminder to all this plan is NOT prorated.

This only affects the Non-duty legal defense plan and not your regular on-duty legal defense fund that is included with your membership to the FOP.

***The non-duty plan covers incidents which may occur in your personal life (non-law enforcement related events).  The plan is an additional $15 per month/$180 for the year in addition to your membership dues for legal defense up to $15,000.  The plan provides Criminal Defense for misdemeanors & felonies cases (traffic & parking tickets NOT included).  Rule 105 Appeals are covered under this plan.  Also included in the plan are the following areas: General Real Estate Law Wills, Trusts & Estate Law Medical & Financial Power of Attorney Employment Law

For Divorce, Child Custody, Child Support & Restraining Orders a $2,500 retainer is required and $2,500 will be matched from the State Lodge for 15 hours with a family law attorney. If 15 hours are not used your $2,500 retainer will be refunded. If over 15 hours are used then you are entitled to keep your attorney at the FOP discounted rate of $168 per hour.

More information about the plan and sign-up forms are available by clicking here .  If you have any additional questions or comments, please feel free to contact your board members.  Thank you all for your time!

Be Safe!
